Honoring and critiquing. Today we read a few articles to look critically at the Riot Grrrl movement and responded to the sections in bold in our notebook. I haven't checked in for a while because you are all amazing and so good. But here's what we've been up to: Third wave feminism was an awesome and transformative time where people made space for the experiences of women of color and the queer experience. Let's talk about intersectionality!
You will be doing a research project. See Major Assignments Tab! Don't forget to be in the English hallyway 15min before the end of class. I informed your teachers. What do you want first years at Madison to know? See proposal form. We completed our Gender Studies Narrative. Please submit by Monday 10/12. You are being assessed on dialogue, blocking, figurative language, interior monologue, character and setting description.
We completed Ma Vie En Rose and did a project to display at school.
Today we presented our gender collages. If you present your collage to the class, you'll have a higher chance of getting a 4. You may present next class if you were absent. Then we had quiet writing time for 30 minutes to work on our gender narratives. You will have another 30 minutes next class. After that, we started our tradition of monthly movie time by watching the first 20 minutes of Ma Vie En Rose. Let me know if you would like to stop by and catch up on what we watched.
