Course descriptionThis class is an introduction to the interdisciplinary field of women and gender studies with an emphasis on understanding gender as a socially constructed binary. We will learn how both women and the LGBTQ community have struggled for their rights in history and how gender has been represented in myths, ads, and popular culture. We will also examine the cultural meaning given to gender as it intersects with race, class, ethnicity, and sexuality.
